Game data
To play, choose your own Xbox disc image of Halo 2 (.iso or .xiso, the
original retail disc). The game's files are copied into the app's private storage (up to 1.2 GB), after which you can
delete the disc image. Then the update and content files the game needs are added by themselves: they are stored locked,
and only your disc opens them. Nothing is uploaded.
Only the original retail Halo 2 for the Xbox can be played: the game program is locked, and your disc is the key.
Play online
Sign in or create a free account to play on Xbox Live with ranks and carnage reports. One account works on HCEMobile and H2Mobile. The campaign, split screen and System Link don't need one.
Your account
One free account works on every device you play on. It gives you:
- A unique gamertag that other players see, in Halo 2 and in Halo CE
- Xbox Live matchmaking with the real ranks from 1 to 50 in each playlist
- Post Game Carnage Reports and your game history, as on Bungie.net
- A friends list, private messages and clans, shared with HCEMobile
- Global chat

Your account also plays Halo CE: open HCEMobile signed in.
You can change the capitalization of your gamertag (bob, Bob, BOB), but not the gamertag itself.
Shown behind your gamertag in Halo 2 lobbies and on the Xbox Live menu. Staff nameplates are only offered to staff. A change shows the next time you sign in to Xbox Live in the game.

Matchmaking, custom games, parties, invites and your friends list are all in the game: open Xbox Live from the main menu. This page has your private messages and the global chat.

Your controls
Touch controls that feel like HCEMobile's, or an Original Xbox layout. Xbox, PlayStation, Switch Pro, MFi and Backbone controllers over Bluetooth, or keyboard and mouse.
Carnage reports
Post Game Carnage Reports and your game history after every Live game, laid out as Bungie.net had them.
Play anywhere
Install it on iPhone, iPad, Android or your computer. Plays full screen and offline.
Saves and updates
Your saved games stay on this device and can be exported; updates install automatically.
Settings and data
Keyboard controls
Click an action, then press the key or mouse button you want for it (for Left click, click the waiting button again). A key already in use swaps with it; Esc cancels. Enter, Backspace and the arrow keys stay as the menus' keys.
If models or the menu's ship look stretched or broken, try A, B and C (each takes effect on the next launch) and tell us which looks right.
If walls or floors look flat, black, stretched or flashing, try Compressed and Decoded with each drawing path (each takes effect on the next launch) and tell us which looks right.
While the game is running, the pause menu's "Report a graphics problem" sends us a picture of what it's showing, with what your phone's graphics chip gets wrong.
Custom TURN relay (optional): helps online play on networks that block direct connections, such as some mobile carriers.
